Donations are now being accepted for the 4th Annual Global Oneness Day "Share the Love" Donation Drive


Help the homeless this year for a Civil Service project in celebration of Global Oneness Day.

On Sunday October 27, 2013, with the help of Girl Scout Troop 4226, we will be assembling all of our donations into Meal Sacks and Personal Care Packs which will be distributed evenly to True Light Family Resource Center for their daytime homeless shelter for women and to the Gillis Center in Waldo.

If you can't join us on the 27th, please do consider dropping off a donation and/or spreading the word to your friends and family. Global Oneness Day is about realizing that we are all connected and learning how to see ourselves in everyone we meet.  If we were to truly realize that we are part of everyone we meet, just think how differently we would treat each other! This event engages our youth and teaches them the value of this connection.

8-year-old Kansas City Twins Receive Presidential Recognition for Volunteer Work



If you asked 8-year-old twins Maggie and Sophie Lile what their favorite thing in the world was, the answer would be a resounding “ART”, but their next favorite thing in the world is SAVING the world. The thing that makes them feel the best is when they know they have done something really great for someone else.

It all started 4 years ago, with the very first GlobalOneness Day and people from around the world started celebrating the connection that we all have as residents of the planet. The Lile family had already been a big part of Humanity’s Team, the organization behind the creation of this global holiday. Maggie and Sophie, with the help of their Mom, started the first ever “Share the Love” event.

“Our first event was a lot of fun,” says Angie Lile (mom to Maggie and Sophie), “We held it at our house with a small group of people and collected books for kids and wrapped them up. We collected lots of ordinary household donations and we even made cookies.” All of the books, cookies and other donations were divided up between three different shelters: Sheffield Place, Gillis and Emancipation Station.

“I remember feeling really good about all the work we did and the next year was even better!” said Angie, who continued to hold “Share the Love” donation drives every year since then.

As the girls got older, their ambitions got bigger. “Last year, we combined forces with the Girl Scout troop and had the event at their school,” Angie says.  They were able to create 35 individual meal sacks and 22 personal care packs.  



Meanwhile, word of their “Share the Love” events continued to spread to other members of Humanity’s Team, which is a global movement dedicated to helping people to see and understand our connection to each other as fellow earth beings.

Each year Humanity’s Team leaders from all over the world come together for a week-long strategic planning meeting and retreat. This past year the event was held in Colorado and the entire Lile family traveled out to meet these leaders.

“While we were at the meeting, the girls and I all received the Presidential ‘Call to Service Award’ for our hard work,” explained Angie. She proudly shows a picture of the girls, holding their certificates. They also received little pins and a letter from President Barack Obama. “I was so surprised but also really proud of them. This feels like a pretty big deal.”

It is a big deal if you think about all the people who have benefitted from the hard work of 2 small girls over the years. Imagine what a whole school could do? Or even a whole neighborhood?  Of course, this is the very heart of how a grassroots movement operates. There have been many grassroots movements over time, and all of them have been a huge benefit to the world. Humanity’s Team is just one of these many groups and the Lile family plans on continuing the good work.

The next Global Oneness Day is coming up, October 24th and the ambitious 8-year-olds are planning another donation drive.  The goal is to create meal sacks and personal care packs for as many people as we can and distribute those to Emancipation Station. This is a great organization which provides daytime shelter to homeless women in Kansas City. They offer personal training such as health and wellness, computer skills, and other life skills.  

Another recipient will be The Gillis Center in Waldo who also provides shelter and learning for families in need. 

If you think you can’t change the world, you are wrong, and 2 8-year-old girls have shown that hard work can make a difference. They had one thing to say about receiving this award and that was, “Won’t you join us in making a difference on Global Oneness Day?”

Whether you help a friend, relative or a complete stranger, make October 24th your personal day to give back to the world. You might be surprised at what a difference you can make.

Donation locations for this year’s drive will be available at various locations around the metro. If you can’t make it to a drop-off, you are welcome to arrange for a special drop-off or pick-up. The details will be posted soon on this website so stay tuned.

Share the Love on Global Oneness Day October 24, 2012

Humanity's Team Kansas City has teamed up with Kansas City Girl Scout Troop 3033 for this year's Global Oneness Day Share the Love event and we're inviting you to participate!

The entire Girl Scout troop will be at Border Star Montessori in Brookside diligently helping us to sort and organize donations on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 4pm until 6pm when the school closes.

The Daisies and 2nd Grade Brownies will be helping to decorate paper sacks which will hold one full meal for a Homeless person here in Kansas City.  The rest of the Brownies will help organize the meals into the decorated sacks.  The Girl Scouts (older girls) will be helping to gather any incoming donations of food and toiletries and bagging up toiletries into personal care kits for the Homeless.

Global Holiday Taking the World by Storm

Thousands around the World prepare for 3rd Annual Global Oneness Day on 24 October, 2012.

Global Oneness Day is not your average, ordinary holiday. Very similar in concept to Earth Day (which happens on April 22nd each year), Global Oneness Day was born from a movement to awaken the world to our connection to each other and to everything on the planet. Where Earth Day focuses on the health of our Planet, Global Oneness Day focuses on the force of love that holds us and the planet together. Each year, on October 24th, the planet will celebrate in many different ways, based on our own interpretation to what it means to be one with everything and everyone.

Global Oneness Day was first celebrated on October 24, 2010 after a group of people from the world-wide non-profit organization, Humanity's Team, delivered a petition to the United Nations Peace Ambassador, Anwarul Chowdry. Ambassador Chowdry sent a strong message that this was a movement that could spark something really special amongst the peoples of the world. He encouraged Humanity's Team to continue to raise the signature count on the Oneness Day Petition. From that point on it became a Declaration of Oneness and continues to grow in it's signature count.

Now on its third year, Global Oneness Day continues to grow as Countries around the world anticipate and plan for their events. In South Africa, the spirit of Ubuntu is celebrated with the support of Archbishop Desmond Tutu through a variety of activities which continue to draw in thousands of people. In Paris, France, a gathering of spiritual philosophers is set to occur while in Canada many large events are being planned in different provinces.

People around the world can celebrate Global Oneness Day in any number of ways. For example, The Shift Network and Humanity's Team is working together on a day-longTeleconference which is completely free to anyone wanting to call in and listen. Internationally-known speakers will be giving presentations about what it means to consider Oneness in the everyday actions of societies around the world, as well as the important scientific breakthroughs that have shown evidence that Oneness is a proven reality. These speakers include Neale Donald Walsch, Jack Canfield, Carlos Santana, don Miguel Ruiz, Michael Bernard Beckwith, Ken Wilber, Barbara Marx Hubbard and Bruce Lipton, just to name a few.

The Association for Global New Thought has also partnered with Humanity's Team in support of Global Oneness Day as part of its Season for Interfaith Intercultural celebration and has designed a Sunday Service for any New Thought centers who wish to participate. These services will incorporate videos that are submitted by participants around the Country which showcase what kind of activities are being done to celebrate. For example, our very own Humanity's Team in Kansas City gathers items for people in need as a way to be in service to their community and their video will be shown to gatherings in New Thought centers in celebration.

Some examples include getting together in celebration, or to meditate, or to help others in need. Other ideas include doing little things to make people feel nice, like painting rocks with inspiring messages and leaving them around town or helping a neighbor with some yard work. People are encouraged to celebrate in any manner they choose, even if it's to help animals or the environment. Whatever way someone decides to celebrate, they are joining in with thousands around the world with a single intention, to make the world a better place. What better reason is there to celebrate?
